Meet Scout!

11 year old Bichon Frise Scout found herself homeless when her owner was sadly taken ill. They had been together since she was a puppy, so we fully expected her to be a little shut down when she first arrived in our care. How wrong we were!

Scout is having the time of her life in foster care, where she is being loved and doted on just like in her previous home. She has adapted to her change in her circumstances so bravely. Deaf and in desperate need of a dental, she hasn’t let her health issues hold her back and she has proved to be such an affectionate, gentle and sweet little lady. Now her ears have been cleaned out and some of her poorly teeth removed at the vets, she’s feeling like a spring lamb again.

She loves nothing more than to be with her people and she has shown signs of separation anxiety in her foster home. We will provide help for this in her forever home but at least initially, Scout will need constant human company.

She isn’t a lap dog but she does like to stay close, and her new owner must be happy to share their bed with her. She loves going for walks but she is also more than happy to have a lie-in when the opportunity presents itself.

Scout is currently sharing her foster home with two little, elderly dogs. Although she doesn’t like too much going on around her as it makes her anxious, we feel that she would thrive in the company of another calm dog. She prefers dogs of a similar size, and she has lived with cats before. As she enjoys lots of peace and quiet, a family with young children wouldn’t be suitable but she could happily live with children over 10 years old.

ADOPTION PROCESS

We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.

Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:

Step 1:

The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.

Step 2:

The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.

Step 3:

The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.

Step 4:

The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.

Step 5:

A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.

Step 6:

If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
